Brazilian Congress of Motor Behavior
The I Motor Behavior Seminar was conceived and held at the School of Physical Education and Sport of the University of São Paulo, in 1998, and its main objectives were to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Laboratory of Motor Behavior – LACOM and to create a forum for researchers in the areas of Development, Learning and Motor Control.
In 2000, the ‘II Motor Behavior Seminar’ was also held at the School of Physical Education and Sport of the University of São Paulo and was attended by approximately 100 researchers of different levels, doctors, masters, specialists and undergraduates.
The III Motor Behavior Seminar was held in 2002, in the city of Gramado, promoted by the School of Physical Education of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. was symbolically created. Since then, it was decided that the event would be called the 1st Brazilian Congress of Motor Behavior.
In 2004, the School of Physical Education, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at the Federal University of Minas Gerais promoted the II Brazilian Congress on Motor Behavior. In this event, the Brazilian Society of Motor Behavior was officially created and the first General Assembly that characterized its foundation was held.
The Biosciences Institute of UNESP in Rio Claro hosted, in 2006, the BrasileiroIII Brazilian Congress on Motor Behavior, which was attended by numerous researchers from the country. In this edition of the congress, SOCIBRACOM’s Scientific Awards were given and the Jeferson Canfield Award was created, in recognition of researchers who have significantly contributed to the development of the Motor Behavior area in Brazil.
The IV Brazilian Congress of Motor Behavior took place in 2008 again at the School of Physical Education and Sport of the University of São Paulo. At the time, the Motor Behavior Laboratory completed 20 years. The event featured four international speakers and several national researchers, consolidating itself as a traditional biennial event in the area.
The V Brazilian Congress of Motor Behavior was held in 2010, in the city of Londrina, PR – organized by UEL – State University of Londrina. It was the biggest event in the history of this Society and brought together nationally and internationally renowned researchers.
The VI Brazilian Congress of Motor Behavior was held in 2012, in the city of São Paulo, SP – organized by UNICSUL – Cruzeiro do Sul University. The “SOCIBRACOM Young Doctor Researcher Award” was created at this event, in recognition of the researchers who recently concluded the doctorate and who have presented outstanding research activity in their early career.
The VII Brazilian Congress of Motor Behavior was held in 2014 in the city of Belo Horizonte, MG, and was organized by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG).
The VIII Brazilian Congress of Motor Behavior was held in 2016, in the city of João Pessoa, PB, and was organized by the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB). It was the first event held in the Northeast of the country and, also for the first time, the winner of the “SOCIBRACOM Young Doctor Researcher Award” gave a lecture within the CBCM program.
